Alpacas are very inquisitive animals and will always look for where the sounds come from and can see things that we may miss. For example, I was watching our females one day and could not figure what they were looking at across the street in the woods. Eventually, I saw this brown animal moving through the brush - groundhog. They saw it and were on alert long before I could even figure out what they were staring at.
Alpacas also have many tax advantages as they are listed as a livestock animal. Be sure to talk to your account for the IRS rules.
